• Ages: 5–18 years old
BB Camp has been providing camp since 1921 and has over 100 years of history. The program states that it aims to ensure every child feels seen, heard, safe, and more confident than when they arrived. It is described as an ultra-inclusive sanctuary on the Oregon coast and is part of BB360, a new Jewish umbrella over the Pacific Northwest, with activities grounded in Jewish values and rituals and a celebration of Shabbat as a camp community.
The camp’s facilities include state-of-the-art ADA-accessible double-decker cabins with heat and air conditioning, with bathrooms and showers on each floor, and cabins that sleep 19 people on each floor and are divided by age between the North and South sides of camp during sessions. The Mercaz Campus Center includes an arts and crafts area, staff lounge, teaching kitchen, and multipurpose rooms used for dance, skill builder chugs, themed day programming, and Shabbat services. The newly expanded Dining Hall has two fireplaces and is used for meals, song sessions, and Shabbat, and its extension transforms into the Teatron Performing Arts Center.
The Mendelson Wellness Center is a modern medical facility, and the medical team includes on-site nurses, medical assistants, and a volunteer doctor. The Zidell Fieldhouse is an ADA-accessible gym with a full-size basketball court, bleachers, and a game room. Additional facilities include an outdoor amphitheater used for skit nights, performances, song sessions, dancing, and Shabbat services; the Second Century Pavilion providing shaded outdoor programming space; an archery field; a heated swimming pool; an outdoor basketball court; a tennis/pickleball court; a zipline; a climbing wall; a ropes course; a Gaga pit; and a ballfield/soccer field.
BB Camp states that it is inclusive of campers of all ages and abilities, including various physical and learning disabilities and impairments, and notes that it is the only Oregon camp with ADA-accessible cabins. A Director of Community Care provides staff training and mentorship, and many staff are described as campers-turned-counselors familiar with camp culture and ethos. Specialized financial aid and grants are available for campers from Russian-speaking and Hebrew-speaking households.
BB Camp is supported by The B’nai Brith Mens Camp Association, an Oregon non-profit, and is part of BB360, a new Jewish umbrella over the Pacific Northwest. The program also offers a Lincoln County Food Service Program. The camp setting is described as having picturesque conditions with average temperatures of 70° and dry, sunny days.
