About

McMinnville Community Tennis Association Youth Tennis Programs offers beginner youth tennis programs, intermediate/advanced youth tennis programs, and tournaments. Youth lessons for grades K–8 cover basic playing skills, stroke techniques, court positioning, rules of the game, and beginning competition. Intermediate/Advanced Evening Clinics for grades 7–12 focus on continued skill and stroke development, advanced drills, strategies, and competition.

Established in 2021, the McMinnville Community Tennis Association is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and develop the growth of tennis in Yamhill County, with a vision to create a sustainable organization that grows the sport of tennis in Yamhill County for all ages. MCTA has offered tennis programming to over 200 youth each summer and states that it offers equitable, affordable, and accessible youth tennis opportunities in McMinnville, Oregon. Rain and heat advisory cancellations and plans are posted on Facebook and Instagram, and credits are given for cancelled classes. Scholarships are available. Participants are asked to bring a full water bottle and a racquet, and racquets are available for use for those without their own.

The leadership team includes Board Members Erica Anderson (secretary), Doug Barsotti (treasurer), Marianne Mills (vice chair), and Erin Stephenson (chair), with Lisa Macy-Baker serving as Executive Director. One staff member, Mack, graduated with honors from Linfield University in 2017 with a degree in English and a double minor in Spanish and gender studies, was a stellar doubles player for the Wildcats with a very high win percentage in singles, grew up at Salem Tennis and Swim Club where her mother was a pro, and was a four-time state qualifier in doubles at Sprague High School, winning the district title her senior year and finishing in third place at the state tournament. Mack served as an assistant coach for Salem Tennis and Swim Club’s junior tennis summer program from 2009–2019, later served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Costa Rica, works as an academic advisor at Chemeketa Community College's McMinnville campus, and helps coach at McMinnville High School (MHS). Community sponsors include Atticus Hotel, the Bladine family, Broom-Rickards family, Henry Family in Loving Memory of Amelia, Macy Family, Macy & Son, Marianne Mills, McMinnville Eye Clinic, News Register, Paterson Family, Petersen Family in Loving Memory of Diane Petersen, and Rob Stephenson.
