About

Todos Juntos Fill the Gap In-School & After School Programs offers school-based services during the school day and during the gap hours when risky behaviors are most likely to occur. The programs include Fill the Gap Time Programs and Wrap Around Services that follow the PreventNet model. After-school programs include leadership and pro-social opportunities for historically underserved populations, and a Computer Science Initiative with a CS pathway model that incorporates both in-class and out-of-class programs, including pre-engineering computer science instruction and career-connected learning opportunities.

• Schedule: School-based services during school and during the gap hours

Todos Juntos Fill the Gap In-School & After School Programs was founded in 2000 by Eric Johnston. The mission of Todos Juntos is “Creating connections that empower, educate, and inspire children, youth, and families.” The organization’s leadership team includes Amy Johnston (Executive Director), Michelle Emery (Youth Program Director), Ryen Tucker (Director of STEM & Curriculum Development), Shawna Johnson (Director of Early Learning & Operations), and several site and program staff including school site coordinators, family resource navigators, prevention specialists, and program managers.

Todos Juntos delivers school-based services following the PreventNet model, with goals that include building protective factors and reducing risk factors, increasing family and community involvement in supporting schools and school-based programs, increasing awareness of practices that promote positive outcomes, and strengthening collaboration and systems integration among private nonprofit agencies, state and local governments, and schools. The model is a system of activities and programs that creates a web of support among schools, non-profit agencies, members of the community, local businesses, and local government, and has expanded to community-based, comprehensive, integrated systems of programs in four communities in Clackamas County. Partners such as the Estacada Public Library are part of this network, and Todos Juntos reports having capacity and expertise to improve outcomes for rural communities in Clackamas County.

Programs report supporting increases in healthy behaviors, self-esteem, school engagement, positive relationships, and stability. Based on student surveys, 95 percent of students reported that after participating in Todos Juntos programming they felt they had increased their connection and enthusiasm in school and community events. One participant shared that the skills learned in a class affected work and family life, including handling stress and situations in a positive way, listening better to children, staying calmer during disputes, improving communication with a spouse, and being a more patient parent.
