About

Rock & Roll Camp focuses on students getting better at their instruments or learning to play, writing and performing original music, and putting together bands. Campers can work on rock journalism, make a camp blog, put together a camp zine, and generate video for YouTube. They also record their songs, develop a musician persona, and learn everything from how to set up sound systems to how to design and make band merchandise, with access to borrowed guitars, basses, amps, ukuleles, and drum kits.

Rock & Roll Camp XIX has already taken place, and planning is underway for 2025. The Arts Council of Pendleton states that its mission is to provide opportunities for creative expression and community connection through experiences, education and advocacy in the arts. Thanks to the generosity of the Wildhorse Foundation, transportation is provided to and from Nixyaawii Community School each day of camp, including bus service for the Friday night Showcase Concert. Rock & Roll Camp is supported by organizations, businesses, and individuals, and the fiscal health of the Arts Council of Pendleton depends on members and on individuals and local businesses who help with sponsorships and additional donations.
