About
Vibe Studio Camps, Workshops, and Classes includes visual arts and music experiences such as the Art & Rhythm Camp with Alex Addy and Leslie Barnum. The program also includes mural projects, such as a mural designed and created by Vibe middle school artists in 2022.
Vibe started as a vision in 2006 and became a nonprofit in 2007. Its mission is “Empowering Portland’s underserved youth through art and music; Inspiring the next generation of creative leaders.” Vibe’s community involvement includes a mural designed and painted by middle school students in 2022 in SE Portland at SE 52nd and Flavel, partnerships primarily with Title I schools to deliver arts programming, and Vibe Studio locations that bring art opportunities to kids and families in historically under-invested neighborhoods. Vibe also collaborates with teaching artists, local arts and music organizations, community partners, and the general public. One of its projects, a mural designed and created by Vibe middle school artists in 2022, was funded in part by the Oregon Arts Commission and the Regional Arts and Culture Council. Vibe offers Vibe @ School programs, Vibe Studio camps and workshops, the annual East Winds Band Camp, the Summer St. Johns Art Walk, community-based studios in historically under-invested neighborhoods, and teaching assistant opportunities where youth learn by observing, participating, and gradually stepping into teaching roles.
