Eastside Timbers TOPSoccer

Eastside Timbers TOPSoccer is a soccer program where athletes take part in soccer activities led by USYS-certified coaches. Practices and games are tailored so that athletes can participate with peers of similar skill levels. Some athletes are paired with trained Buddies who support them in activities, while others participate with support from coaches and peers.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: 8 one-hour sessions per season, offered in Fall and Spring
• Price: $50 for 8 weeks ($6.25 per session)

The program’s mission is to provide athletes with cognitive or physical disabilities the opportunity to play soccer in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. Volunteers, called Buddies, support 1–2 athletes as needed and are asked to join the players on the pitch throughout the sessions. A parent or guardian is asked to remain onsite during sessions. Eastside Timbers TOPSoccer is part of the US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer initiative. The program leadership includes Say How Consulting, led by Joslynn Bigelow, who also runs the Eastside TOPSoccer program. The program has also hosted multiple TOPSoccer Disability Resource Fairs in Troutdale that brought together organizations sharing resources in recreation, health and therapy, employment and transition services, education, advocacy, and family supports.
