Astoria Golf & Country Club, founded in June 1923, is associated with Oregon Coast Golf Academy Juniors Programs. The club states that its goal is to create a community and passion for golf on the Oregon Coast for its members and beyond. The leadership team includes Zach Mode (General Manager), Mariela Diaz (Club Accountant), Bradley Young (Membership Director), Jonathan Jones (Executive Chef), Mallory Moulay (Events Manager), Lidia Jenkins (Bar Manager), Max Johnson (Golf Course Superintendent), Carlos Trejo (Clubhouse Maintenance), Jared Lambert (Head Golf Professional), and Cody Mullins (1st Assistant Golf Professional). These sessions are open to Astoria Golf & Country Club members and non-members alike. The course combines elements of both links and parkland style golf, with dunes that run parallel to the coastline and holes laid out north and south between the dunes following the natural terrain. Four holes are located between the bottom of the two largest dunes on the property, and two holes require a water carry from the back tees. Course conditions vary with marine weather patterns typical of the North Coast, and those who have golfed on the Emerald Isle may notice resemblances to Ballybunion and Royal Portrush on the dune holes. A commonly repeated legend states that Tom Doak remarked that if it were not for the cart path affecting the appearance, the third hole would be considered one of the greatest golf holes in the world, and the membership is working on a plan to remove or relocate the cart path on hole 3. Over its 100-year history, the course has been played by golfers including Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Tom Watson, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Curtis Strange, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Fuzzy Zoeller, and Peter Jacobsen.
