• Schedule: Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
The camp is part of the Ardmore Avenue Community Center, whose mission is to provide educational, recreational, cultural, and social resources for residents, particularly children and youth in South Ardmore and neighboring communities. The AACC motto is “Teaching the Youth of Today...Tools for Tomorrow,” and its goal through programming is to give youth tools and confidence to become strong, goal-oriented adults who will have a positive impact on the community and the future. The organization states that it takes seriously its charge to have a positive impact on youth development, offering a safe haven with programs where participants can learn new skills, develop important competencies, and establish healthy, supportive relationships with peers and adults.
The Ardmore Avenue Community Center traces its roots to The Soul Shack, which was organized in 1968. By 1970, the corps of backers had grown to include the Ardmore Civic Association and other Lower Merion Township leaders. In 1977, the Shack was torn down and the program was moved to the Women’s Club next to the Ardmore Library during construction, and in 1978 the new Ardmore Avenue Community Center opened its doors. The Ardmore Avenue Community Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The leadership team for the program includes Crystal Galloway, who can be reached at [email protected].
