Rockdale Art Center

Rockdale Art Center offers art classes for children to adults, including Summer Art Themed Weeks, Little Artists Hour, and Homeschool/Cyber School Art Class. Specific projects and workshops include Shark Attack Mixed Media Canvas, Ceramic Manatee Bowl, Family Ceramic Tic Tac Toe, Pressed Flower Lighthouse Beach Dunes, Beachy Zentangle, and Embroidery Workshops. The program also offers Birthday Parties, painting parties, Bottle & Brush Parties, America 250 Create & Celebrate! Art and Crafts Workshops for Adults, Children, and Families, Scout badge classes, Girl Scout badge classes, outreach art classes, private art classes, an Independent Studio option, and “pick your own, paint your own flowers” sessions at Strawflower Farm.

Rockdale Art Center was founded and is directed by Veronica Batter, a dedicated artist and educator with over a decade of teaching experience. She graduated with distinction from Moore College of Art and Design, taught art in area schools for grades K–12, spent ten years teaching at Sun Valley High School, and earned a Masters of Liberal Studies with highest honors from Widener University. The mission of Rockdale Art Center is educating area residents in the arts and growing the surrounding cultural community. From the 1940s on, the art center building was a gas station on the main street of Rockdale. Rockdale Art Center is actively involved in its local community, advocating for a rich and welcoming cultural corridor along Chester Creek.
