About
Community Programs takes place at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, which is described as the country’s premier cycling venue and the conduit in the greater Lehigh Valley for all things cycling. The venue hosts the most successful series of professional racing in the U.S., Friday Nights Under the Lights, along with weekly races for athletes of all levels. Community programs at this venue have exposed thousands of riders to cycling, with some participants going on to win National, World, and Olympic medals.

The Valley Preferred Cycling Center was established in 1975 and has introduced the freedom and empowerment of life on two wheels to people of all ages for over 48 years. Its mission is to enhance the accessibility of biking for individuals across all economic levels through safe riding programs and events that highlight cycling as an activity for physical health and wellness, advocate for more and safer places to ride, and teach character, discipline, and responsibility through cycling. The facility is owned by Lehigh County and is leased to and managed by the Velodrome Fund, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Community Programs operates within a broader organization that includes leadership roles such as an Executive Director, Operations Manager, Operations Coordinator, Community Programs Coordinator, marketing and event staff, and a Board of Directors with representatives from various organizations and lifetime honorary members. The venue offers food from The Sticky Pig in the concession stand and beverages from the Shangy’s Craft Beer Handlebar, and parking in all areas is free of charge. Outside food and beverage are prohibited inside the venue gates, and preparing food or beverages in unsafe or unhealthy ways is prohibited in parking areas.
