• Schedule: Summer Day Camps with weekly themed sessions

The program’s mission states that at YMCA camps, summer is more than just fun and focuses on building confidence, discovering new passions, and learning life skills that extend beyond the season. The camps are rooted in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Kids build lasting relationships and gain a sense of belonging, and one themed week highlights feeling proud of where they are from and celebrating it with others.

Traditional Summer Day Camp days include a balance of active play, creative projects, and social growth. Discovery Camps offer options that may include STEM, creative arts, performing arts, culinary skills, sports, and nature exploration. The program also offers an overnight camp at YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer. Financial assistance is available for families concerned about cost.

Specific daily and weekly activities can include a camp-wide escape room challenge, launching colorful explosions, The Great Goo Gauntlet, and taking home an environment-friendly plant. Campers may create popsicle stick Cars characters, play an action-packed game of tag, and join a dress as your favorite character day followed by a family movie-themed event. Other activities include a light the path obstacle course, Everyone’s Birthday Celebration, high-flying straw rockets, creating a vibrant handprint macaw, a penguin waddle relay, and a family event. Additional projects and games include designing a swirling Chalk Galaxy Art piece, a don’t drop the asteroid challenge, crafting mini torches, and a torch relay.
