About
Makoto Summer Camp includes summer camp sessions for kids and teens that feature high-energy games, real martial arts training, teamwork challenges, and character lessons. Camp days include warm-up games and movement drills, skill stations with targets and kicking shields, team relays and obstacle challenges, partner drills and pad work, and an end-of-day game and cool down. Out-of-dojo trips three times per week during camp include activities such as roller skating, amusement park days, and buffet outings.
• Ages: 6–12 years old
• Schedule: Full week camps
Makoto Summer Camp takes place at Makoto Martial Arts, which has been serving the Exton area since 1998 and offers traditional martial arts developed over centuries, with no belt or testing fees and no trophies or competitions, only real world training. The camp is led by highly trained kids martial arts instructors who are highly skilled in teaching martial arts for kids and come from a diverse background of Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Filipino martial arts with experience of over 40 years. The program states that no experience is needed and all belt levels are welcome, and it notes that Summer Camp 2025 registration is now open. Makoto Martial Arts provides martial arts classes to the Exton, Downingtown, Lionville, Chester Springs, and Coatesville communities, and asks participants to wear comfortable clothes suitable for sports and to bring a water bottle to martial arts classes. The mission of Makoto Martial Arts states that since it opened, it has been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education, and coaching.
Parent and student comments about the broader Makoto and MAS programs describe children enjoying camaraderie, lessons, and activities, and mention that the dojo is described as great for all levels, with practical and traditional combat training. Other testimonials state that staff are excellent, the curriculum and facilities are described as top notch, and that the school is seen as a true martial arts school and a great place to learn martial arts where students are treated like family. Additional comments mention long-term involvement with the MAS and Makoto community, positive experiences with kickboxing classes, and strong recommendations for the martial arts after-school program.
