YMCA of Reading & Berks County Youth Programs and Child Care includes activities such as homework help, active games, sports, hands-on STEAM activities, healthy snacks, outdoor play, gym time, field trips, swimming, outdoor games, and art class. The program also offers a School’s Out Program for teacher in-service days, school breaks, and holiday closures, as well as a Summer Day Camp with weekly themes, field trips, and pool days. YMCA members and childcare families can attend a free family movie night at Reading Movies 11 & IMAX.

The YMCA of Reading & Berks County has served families since 1857. Its mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Programs are available at Reading YMCA and Richmond Early Learning Centers, and the childcare centers are fully licensed by the Department of Human Services. Pennsylvania’s free Pre-K Counts program is available at the Reading YMCA for qualifying families, with on-site child care for infants through 6th grade and early drop-off and late pick-up for Pre-K Counts. Financial assistance and subsidized funding are available for qualifying families, including an Open Door Scholarship based on individual needs and circumstances.
Bilingual, licensed staff work in a STAR 4-rated center for Pre-K Counts. YMCA of Reading & Berks County was voted Best Summer Camp in Berks, and the Pre-K Counts program is in a STAR 4-rated center. The YMCA of Reading & Berks County serves families across Reading, Fleetwood, Sinking Spring, and surrounding communities, and the organization is grateful to United Way of Berks County for capturing a story about their Early Learning Centers.
One parent shared that her boys loved their time at before and after school care at the YMCA, made many friends, especially enjoyed the after-school healthy eating program, and liked playing in the gym and on the playground, and she described the staff members as kind and patient.
