YMCA Camp Thompson offers campers a mix of swimming, playing sports, making crafts, singing songs, canoeing, archery, and campfires. The camp also includes an L.I.T. (Leader in Training) program that runs over two immersive weeks for participants in that program.

YMCA Camp Thompson is accredited by the American Camping Association. The camp offers an L.I.T. (Leader in Training) program for teens age 15 that includes an application process. Staff members undergo extensive training, dedicating over 60 hours to preparing to deliver the summer experience. The camping program is led by Camping Services Director Brittany “Bipp” Rose. For nearly a century, Camp Thompson has been a cornerstone of the community, and it operates as part of the Carlisle Family YMCA, which has been in service for 150 years and has pioneered sports like basketball and volleyball as well as initiatives such as public libraries and night schools. The Carlisle Family YMCA extends thanks to Capital Blue Cross Blue Shield for support that goes toward financial assistance, facility updates, and programming at summer camps. YMCA Camp Thompson also has a camp store that offers camp-branded gear and accessories. The camp states a mission that focuses on combining fun, learning, and personal growth, with programs focused on building confidence, character, and life skills and a commitment to the YMCA’s core values of caring, responsibility, respect, and honesty.
