About

Lacawac Summer Camps take place within Lacawac Sanctuary, which is a nature preserve, biological field station, and environmental education center that includes a pristine glacial lake, diverse forest ecosystems, wetlands, and historic structures. The camps run in a setting that is part of a 545-acre property that functions as both a research site and an education center.

Lacawac Sanctuary was founded in 1966 through the donation of 341 acres and a collection of historic buildings. The Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation is an independent nonprofit focused on scientific research, environmental education, and conservation, and it manages four preserves and sanctuaries across Wayne and Pike Counties, protecting more than 749 acres of ecologically significant land. The foundation states that it is dedicated to inspiring lifelong connections to nature and shaping the next generation of scientists and earth stewards through research, education, and preservation. The sanctuary is open to the public from sunrise to sunset and notes that it is a proud member organization.
