For 70 years, Camp Lohikan has provided a camp environment that follows its stated mission. The mission of Camp Lohikan is to provide children with a safe camp environment and staff it with caring adults who are committed to their positive growth and development, in a place where the rights and dignity of all individuals are respected. The mission also states that the program is designed to offer a wide variety of learning opportunities for children to develop artistic and athletic talents as well as social skills, with the ultimate goal that campers return home with new friends, new skills, increased self-esteem, and greater independence, and that Camp Lohikan be a positive growth experience that will last a lifetime.

Camp Lohikan is a traditional coed summer camp that is nonsectarian and has a very diverse population. The camper population is divided into three girls and boys divisions: Juniors, Intermediates, and Seniors. Each girls and boys division is composed of about 80 to 90 campers, for a total camp population of approximately 450–500 campers. New campers are guaranteed to be assigned to a cabin where there are at least three new campers, and first-time campers join every summer regardless of age. Last summer, campers traveled from 25 states and 19 different countries to attend camp, and another statement notes that campers come from 21 states and 19 countries.

At least 50% of Camp Lohikan’s staff are experienced, returning staff members, and the key management staff have over 200 years of combined camp experience. The camp states that it is staffed with caring adults who are committed to children’s positive growth and development. Camp Lohikan describes itself as a warm, welcoming community of children and adults who come together summer after summer. Horseback riding is offered with a “Ride Every Day - FREE!” statement. The camp offers a “Great Camp Guarantee” and provides a virtual tour. Camp Lohikan is listed on Best USA Summer Camps.
