Summer Adventures Camp includes weekly themed activities such as arts and crafts, music, science, cooking, sports, nature exploration, and high-energy group games. Campers take part in activities like kickball, volleyball, backyard games such as capture the flag, lip sync battles, friendship bracelets, tie-dye, bedazzled crafts, optical illusions, and food-inspired games. The program also features engineering challenges, investigations of chemical reactions and non-Newtonian fluids like slime and oobleck, exploration of how the human body works during movement and sports, nature scavenger hunts, and the creation and production of the annual Summer Adventures Camp Talent Show.

• Schedule: 8 weekly sessions from June 15th to August 7th, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm; registration for each week closes on the Monday before that week

Summer Adventures Camp is a summer day camp for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade for the 2026–2027 school year, with weekly themes such as Wild and Free, STEM in Action, Flavor Lab, Be Kind, Rewind, Mind-Bending STEM, Winter Olympics, Eco Explorers, and Curtain Call. The camp includes one to two field trips per week to locations that match each week’s theme, including an outdoor adventure park treetop experience, Lancaster Science Factory, Museum of Illusions, ice skating, Delaware Museum of Nature and Science, and a professional performance. Campers also explore park nature trails and a creek, craft with natural materials, create animal habitat models and mini terrariums, and take part in Olympic-style and Winter Olympics–inspired activities with Olympic-themed crafts and team-building challenges.
The program offers a Counselors In Training (CIT) option for students in 7th and 8th grade with limited spots, with preference given to applicants who have attended this camp in the past. Campers create and run the annual Summer Adventures Camp Talent Show, planning, designing, and producing every part of the show. The organization behind the camp, Brandywine Valley Sports and Recreation, states the motto “PLAY HARD. PLAY SMART. PLAY TOGETHER.”
The leadership team includes Jamie Miller as Director, and Melissa Hocking and Alisha Liljestrand as Assistant Directors. Jamie Miller teaches 3rd and 4th grade students in an after-school program and is fluent in English and Spanish. Melissa Hocking graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in nursing and has worked as a pediatric nurse for her entire career, mostly at Nemours and more recently as a school nurse. Alisha Liljestrand graduated from Avon Grove High School, attended the University of Delaware, earned a degree in Human Services, and has been a hairstylist for 15 years.
Brandywine Valley Sports and Recreation states that it is a group of dedicated and like-minded individuals who have come together to support the community they live in and love, and that it is committed to providing programs that promote community health and connectedness through sports, fine arts, recreation, and education activities. The organization’s mission is to promote family recreation, sports, fine arts, and other activities for children of all ages in Southern Chester County, with a stated goal to promote the development of leadership, character, creativity, sportsmanship, tolerance, discipline, athletic ability, and to nurture youth and family fitness, art and music appreciation, volunteerism, and a lifelong love of an active lifestyle. Brandywine Valley Sports and Recreation promotes and encourages community sports, fine arts, and recreational programs and services to families in Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, and invites community members to get involved to help support and shape the community.
