About

Malvern Day Camp offers Mini Camp, Junior Camp, Senior Camp, a Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) program, and a School-Age Holidays Program. Campers take part in aquatics, sports and athletics, arts and crafts, a water park, nature and waterfront activities, an adventure course, special events, swimming, kayaking, nature walks, and games such as Gaga, including swimming in the camp pool and kayaking down the camp river.

• Ages: 5–14 years old

Malvern Day Camp has been creating happy campers since 1995 and has been enriching the lives of children since it was opened by the founders of The Malvern School, a private early childhood education program with 27 schools located throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Camper groups are structured according to age, grade level, or parent preference, with Mini Campers between 5 and 6 years old, Junior Campers between 7 and 9 years old, Senior Campers between 10 and 12 years old, and 13- and 14-year-olds eligible to apply to the C.I.T. program. Each camper group is led by two counselors, each activity is led by a specialist in that field, and small group size keeps the camper-to-staff ratio low. Malvern Day Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), and the camp is designed to meet and exceed local and national health and safety regulations, including those set by the ACA. Emergency transportation is available at all times in the event of illness or injury requiring advanced medical attention, and the camp also offers “School’s Out? Camp’s On!” single day holiday camps for days off from school.

The mission of Malvern Day Camp is to provide campers with opportunities to explore new sports and activities, create long-lasting bonds with fellow campers and camp counselors, experience adventure, and discover a lifelong passion for summer camp. The camp describes itself as an American Camp Association accredited camp and uses the slogan “20 Years of the Ultimate Summer AdventureTM.”

The summer camp counselors are educators, college students, and other trained specialists. At the start of each season, new and returning counselors and specialists participate in an intense orientation and a series of planned training sessions, including First Aid and CPR certification. Throughout the summer, counselors are continually evaluated to ensure they are following Malvern Day Camp and American Camp Association high standards. Prior to hiring, all counselors are required to have criminal record, fingerprint, and child abuse background checks performed. A nurse is on-site during camp hours to administer first aid and to monitor health and sanitation procedures throughout the camp, and all Malvern Day Camp staff are Water Safety, First Aid, and CPR certified.

Parent testimonials describe children talking in the car about swimming, kayaking, and playing Gaga, and note that the director, nurses, and counselors are caring and compassionate with strong communication and home connection. Another parent reports being impressed with counselors’ patience and attentiveness during a Parent’s Day that was moved indoors because of a storm and describes feeling peace of mind after initially being nervous about sending a child to a new camp.
