About
YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Summer Day Camps include activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, sports, team-building games, and themed challenges. Campers take part in experiences like an escape room challenge, Eye Spy Take-Home Mission, launching colorful explosions, The Great Goo Gauntlet, and taking home an environment-friendly plant. They also create popsicle stick Cars characters, have a dress as your favorite character day, join a family movie-themed event, and try the light the path obstacle course and Everyone’s Birthday Celebration.
Campers build high-flying straw rockets, create a handprint macaw, race in a penguin waddle relay, and go on a nature walk & hunt. Additional activities include a kindness carnival, designing their own Terrible Towel, a dress like your favorite Pittsburgh or local sports team day, designing Chalk Galaxy Art, the don’t drop the asteroid challenge, crafting mini torches, and a torch relay.

The program’s mission statement is that when school is out, the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Summer Day Camps keep kids active, engaged, and learning all summer long. The camps offer a wide variety of camp experiences for different ages and interests, including Traditional Summer Day Camp, Discovery Camps, and Overnight Camps at YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer. The program is rooted in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and financial assistance is available. During the Pride of Pittsburgh week, campers unlock their Golden Ticket to celebrate the spirit, creativity, and community of the city.
