About

Ridley Creek State Park Educational and Public Programs include guided outdoor recreation, hands-on activities, outdoor education, and special events. The program also offers standards-aligned, inquiry-based environmental education programs, field experiences, and in-school lessons for school groups, as well as standards-aligned professional development trainings for formal and non-formal educators. Public programs are for all ages and focus on the park’s natural, cultural, and historical resources.

• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: A wide variety of programs are offered from April through November.
• Price: A fee is charged for visitation to the Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead and group tours are available by reservation.

The Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead connected with this program has been a working farm for more than 300 years and is restored to a late 18th century appearance with animals typical of the period and authentically clothed historical interpreters. On weekends from April to November, visitors there can observe the farm family cooking over the open hearth, preserving foods, processing textiles, tending field crops, and performing other chores, and the farmstead is closed to public visitation during the winter months. The farmstead provides visitors with an accurate picture of life on a Delaware County farm prior to the American Revolution.

Hunting Hill Mansion, which is part of the same park setting as these programs, is a large English country manor with a gray stone facade that is repeated on structures throughout the park. The original Hunting Hill property owners maintained approximately 2,000 acres of lawn and forest, including several formal gardens, horse stables, and trails, which can still be seen today. The maximum capacity for weddings and events at the mansion is 150 people, and wedding or event guests have use of a bridal suite, first floor ballroom, grand staircase, living room area, and restrooms, with weddings and other special events handled by the exclusive event planner and caterer, Parque at Ridley Creek State Park. A two-plug electric vehicle charging station is available for public use in the Hunting Hill Mansion parking lot, and visitors are asked to move to another parking space once their electric vehicle has been charged.
