Saltworks Young Actors Studio offers after-school classes, summer day camps, fall and spring acting classes, and Young Actors Ensemble. The classes and camps include monologues, scene study, scriptwriting, movement, improv, games, activities, and informal showcases for family and friends.   • Summer day camps / Summer Studio Acting Camp — 7- to 16-year-olds · Day camps where students play, perform, and partner with friends. Students learn theater skills through games, improv, and activities, ending with an informal showcase for family and friends.
  • Fall and Spring Acting Classes — All skill and interest levels are welcome · After-school classes to introduce kids to theater arts in a fun, supportive environment. Each season concludes with an informal showcase for family and friends.
  • Young Actors Ensemble — Students who have taken at least one Saltworks Young Actors Studio class or the equivalent · An 8-week theater class for students who have prior experience; teaches more advanced acting techniques through exercises, games, and improvisation, building to a final performance.
  • Young Actors Studio: Yes... And Improv 101 — 8-15 · Sep 22-Nov 10, 4:30-6:00 pm · Values-driven class focused on quick-thinking skills, confidence, and teamwork through guided improv games and scenes.

About the provider

Saltworks Theatre Company is a non-profit, professional arts organization that uses drama to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of children, youth, and families. For nearly 50 years, Saltworks has supported educators, families, and youth in Pittsburgh through theatre arts, and the company was originally founded in 1981. Teaching artists lead classes and camp sessions, educating students in theater arts and socioemotional skills.
