Camp Wayne for Girls

Camp Wayne for Girls is a traditional, seven week, overnight camp that is the summer home to 275 girls. Camp Wayne offers children the opportunity to live simply, free from screens and social media, surrounded by the beauty of nature, in a warm, down-to-earth atmosphere. Camp Wayne describes itself as “A Nice People Place,” and its campus lends itself to a close-knit community.

Camp Wayne was established in 1921 and has been owned and operated by the same family since 1952, and is now under its third generation of leadership. Camp Wayne for Boys & Girls has been under the same family ownership since 1952. The boys’ and girls’ camps are brother-sister camps on opposite sides of a 3/4 mile private, spring-fed lake. The stated goal at Camp Wayne is to provide children with a healthy, happy and rewarding camp experience that is an important part of their personal growth, including a chance to broaden their horizons, learn new skills, develop confidence and gain independence. The mission also states that children gain a sense of self-worth and learn life skills such as respect, trust, consideration and cooperation by living and working together with peers and counselors, and that campers are encouraged to be honest with themselves, communicate openly with their feelings, be responsible for their words and actions, appreciate the gift of camp, enjoy being a kid, and have the best summers of their lives.
