About

Berks Nature Eco-Camp includes environmental education activities where campers explore the great outdoors and learn about green, sustainable living. The program uses hands-on experiences to focus on topics like sustainability and stewardship of the earth.

• Schedule: The Nature Place public hours are Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with office hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Berks Nature’s Summer Eco-Camp is led by a team of veteran teachers. Miss Anne (Anne Muvdi), Director of Nature Preschool at The Nature Place, also serves as Camp Director and coordinates the camp curriculum and schedules with her team of teachers and counselors. At Berks Nature, the stated belief is that nature is essential to quality of life, and the Eco-Camp summer camp was created to give children a fun and engaging experience to grow their understanding of and commitment to the stewardship of the earth. Berks Nature is a 501(c)(3) non-profit conservation organization, and The Nature Place is a LEED Gold certified building that serves as a demonstration campus for environmental best management practices and for education and connection to nature.

Berks Nature has been serving the Berks County community since 1974 and manages community gardens, education programs, Eco-Camp, and partnerships, as well as tours such as farm tours and campus tours for schools and community groups. One testimonial from Berks Encore staff describes a tour of The Nature Place campus as professional, informational, and focused on sustainability, history, and walking through nature habitats. Another testimonial from a Kutztown Middle School teacher notes that a farm tour with Berks Nature showed students farming practices, sustainability, clean water, and buying locally in action.
