About
Beaver Valley Choral Society Youth Programs include the Treble Youth Chorale, which focuses on vocal education and performance of children in grades three through eight. Participants work on intonation, diction, memorization, vocal technique, and concert performance etiquette as part of their choral experience. Treble Youth Chorale members also perform as the Beaver Valley Choral Society Youth Percussion Ensemble.

Beaver Valley Choral Society is a Christian faith-based, non-denominational, inter-generational choral and orchestral arts organization. Its three choral ensembles are the Adult Principal Choir, the Chancel Choir, and the Treble Youth Chorale, which together form a Community of Choruses. The Beaver Valley Choral Society Orchestra performs with the Choral Society as supportive enhancement and as a solo ensemble, and the Mary Inman Honors Handbell Choir uses a two-octave set of Shulmerich Handbells and a five-octave set of White Chapel Handbells. Beaver Valley Choral Society presents vibrant concerts throughout western Pennsylvania.
The organization is celebrating its 100th Anniversary, with the first mention of a community choir in the Beaver Daily Times on Wednesday, October 24, 1923, and its initial performance at Beaver College in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Current Artistic Director Sharon Burchill was appointed beginning in the 2021–2022 concert season, and Deborah Silverstein serves as the Treble Youth Chorale Director working closely with Mrs. Burchill. The Adult Principal Choir, Chancel Choir, and Treble Youth Chorale are described as a Community of Choruses dedicated to inspire, educate, and enrich their members and the audiences they reach, and each chorus strives for performances of the highest musical standards while focusing on the compelling spirituality of their musical repertoire.
The Chancel Choir and Instruments Ensembles collaborate with area Christian churches to enhance Sunday worship music through combined efforts with church music ministries. The Society supports music education and community outreach through partnerships in a Summer Music Academy and an annual Christmas Carol Sing. Through the Choral Connections Program, it has formed partnerships with Coro Latinoamericano di Pittsburgh and the Novus Children’s Choir of Pittsburgh, and in conjunction with the Summer Academy, it has developed a relationship with the Pittsburgh Opera Educational Program. Recognized for its excellence, the Society supports music education and community outreach through these partnerships.
