Schuylkill Haven Recreation Department Youth Programs

Schuylkill Haven Recreation Department Youth Programs offers activities that include kickball, basketball, T-ball, NFL Flag Football, baseball/softball, and camps. The program also includes events such as the Train Game, Canes Cup, Cully Classic, Haven HoopFest, Children’s Christmas Stroll, Halloween events, Fireworks @ Island Park, and other special events. Adult programs and activities for seniors are also part of the overall recreation offerings.

The program is led by Recreation Director Darle Cresswell, Parks and Facilities Director Mykal McCulloch, and Recreation Coordinator Christie Diehl-Taraschuk. The Recreation Board includes members Jason Koppenhaver, Melissa Strauch, Kevin Rugh, Terry Bensinger, Donald “Bud” Runkle as the School Board representative, and John Williams as the Council representative. The Neal Boyer Award, named after long-time Recreation Director Neal Boyer, is given to individuals who exhibit community service within Schuylkill Haven, with annual recipients listed from 1998 through 2023. Part-time seasonal positions are available for events and concession stand workers and for park maintenance in fall and winter, and interested high school or college students are instructed to submit an application.
