Pennsylvania State Police Troop K Camp Cadet

Pennsylvania State Police Troop K Camp Cadet includes classroom instruction, physical activities, drug and alcohol education, and violence prevention. The program is structured similar to training at the police academy and is patterned after Pennsylvania State Police training. All participants who attend Camp Cadet are addressed as “Cadet” during the week and are required to participate in all scheduled events that focus on teamwork, drug and alcohol education, violence prevention, and other issues facing today’s youth.

• Ages: 11–14 years old
• Schedule: The 2026 Camp Cadet program will be held August 2nd–August 7th.
• Price: Camp Cadet charges a $200.00 fee to cover uniforms, meals, lodging, and all activities; camps are funded exclusively by corporate and community donations except for this $200.00 fee paid by the cadet, and partial waivers are available on an as-needed basis.

Camp Cadet is an overnight camp, and meals, lodging, and programs are provided at no cost to staff. The camp is staffed by Troopers, Municipal Police Officers, and other volunteers. The purpose of Camp Cadet is to provide an insight into police training and the overall expectations of a police officer, and the goal is to introduce young adults to the diverse criminal justice system and establish a positive relationship with law enforcement personnel while establishing a sense of pride, discipline, teamwork, integrity, and self-respect. The camp is open to all youth, is not a recreational camp, and is not a disciplinary camp for problem youth. Troop K Camp Cadet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization classified as a public charity under sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Code and is qualified to receive tax-deductible gifts and donations. Camps are funded by various fundraisers and business and community donations.
