Central PA Tennis Center Programs include tennis clinics, classes, private lessons, contract league play, competitive matches, and social events. Youth activities include Youth Clinics, Junior Round Robins, Family Round Robins, and the Heavy Hitters Competition, and there are also Mixed Doubles Parties. Adult options include an Adult Drill Class, Cardio Tennis Class, Women’s Tennis Clinics, Stroke Class, and Competitive Games.
• Ages: 10–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly Youth Clinics with beginner, intermediate, and advanced sessions offered on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; weekly Adult Drill, Cardio Tennis, Women’s Tennis Clinics, Stroke Class, and Competitive Games; current facility hours run Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. into the evening and shorter hours on Saturdays and Sundays
• Price: $10 for members and $12 for non-members for Women’s Tennis Clinics
The program is led by a Professional Tennis Registry certified head pro, John Dorner, who is a USPTR Certified Professional in 10 & Under and Adult Development since 1994. Other instructional staff include Karen Hooker, a PTR Associate Instructor for 11 to 17 year-olds since April 2016; Scott Burkhart, a USPTR Instructor for 10 & Under and Adult Development since March 2000; and Dakkota Deem, a Certified Tennis Professional. The leadership team also includes Mike Walizer and Michael LeBlanc. The stated mission is, “Enrich your life with tennis. It’s challenging. It’s fun to play. You can do it for a lifetime, and you can start at any age.” Central PA Tennis Center has been recognized as a USTA 2025 Outstanding Facility of the Year and is the home of the Bucknell Bison men’s and women’s tennis teams, hosting their home matches and offering indoor practice space for area universities, colleges, and high schools.
