The YMCA of Bradford County was founded in 1996. The Bradford County Branch YMCA opened its doors in the “old SCI building” in Towanda in January 2000, and it became an official branch of the Williamsport Area YMCA in 2004. A major renovation of the gymnasium roof structure and locker rooms was completed in 2005, and an entranceway, multi-purpose room, and cardio room were added in 2010. The Bradford County Branch YMCA became a 24 hour facility in January 2020, and a gymnasium upgrade was completed in 2021.

The branch leadership team includes Branch Executive Director Randi Morse; Membership, Wellness & Aquatics Director Heather Wickwire; School Age Childcare Director Alaina Wickwire; Membership & School Age Childcare Assistant Director Gracie Schoonover; and Foundations Childcare Director (Sayre, PA) Brianna Wiles.

The YMCA states its mission as: “To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy Spirit, Mind and Body for all.” The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility, and it notes that the Towanda Borough’s generosity and community mindedness enabled the branch to open its doors in January 2000. The YMCA’s Annual Campaign contributions help the YMCA offer programs and services that are available for all, with a meaningful, enduring impact in the community. Members who want 24-hour access are required to have their own key fob for entry during non-business hours and are asked to scan their key fob when entering.
