Philadelphia International Music Camp & Festival includes private lessons, master classes, faculty recitals, daily orchestra rehearsals, ensemble and chamber music rehearsals, and a chamber music program. Students take part in solo performance classes, solo performance and competition opportunities, conducting classes, choir, composition classes, sight reading, music theory, ear training, music history, jazz ensemble, and required daily private practice. The program also includes community engagement seminars, off-campus performances, audition preparation seminars, mock auditions, a virtual competition, festival-ending Grand Finale concerts, a concerto competition, sports, arts and crafts, evening events, student concerts, off-campus trips to Philadelphia Orchestra concerts, a touring segment with day trips to Venice, Milan, Bologna, and Verona, and gourmet-style meals prepared by an on-site chef.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer programs run for seven or fourteen days, with Orchestra Camp one-week and two-week sessions in June 2026 and July 2026; a Winter Solo Performance Intensive runs for 6 days from December 28, 2026 to January 2, 2027; PIMF - Italy runs for 11 days from August 3–13, 2026. A sample daily schedule for Orchestra Camp runs from a full festival meeting at 8:45 a.m. through evening events ending at 9:00 p.m., and includes morning orchestra rehearsal, lunch at 12:00 p.m., electives, required private practice, options for chamber music, sports, or arts and crafts, and dinner for resident and extended day campers.
• Price: Two-Week Resident Fee: $4,100; One-Week Resident Fee: $2,275; Two-Week Day Camp Fee (8:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.): $3,450; One-Week Day Camp Fee (8:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.): $1,925.
Philadelphia International Music Camp & Festival offers multiple program options, including Symphony Orchestra, Solo Performance Preparation, Chamber Music Intensive, College Audition Preparation, Piano Studies Program, Viola Intensive, Children’s Music Program, Winter Solo Performance Intensive, and PIMF - Italy. Separate programming is available for young students ages 8–10, and students accepted to the Junior Orchestra (ages 10 and under) attend as Day Campers from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with no option for Residency or Extended Day participation. Attendance options include Resident Camper, Extended Day Camper, and Day Camper, and alumni may bypass the audition process for acceptance if attending the same program, but must submit an audition for placement. Audition requirements include 5–10 minutes of current, well-prepared solo repertoire, and percussion auditions require a snare drum solo or etude and a timpani solo or etude, with additional videos of other instruments strongly encouraged and inclusion of scales appropriate to the instrument.
The program is directed by Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violin of The Philadelphia Orchestra, who is also Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Philadelphia International Music Festival. Faculty include members of The Philadelphia Orchestra and other world-class faculty, including Mark Gigliotti of The Philadelphia Orchestra; Thomas Hong, Artistic Director and Conductor of the University of Pennsylvania Orchestras; Louis Scaglione, President and Music Director of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra; and Kensho Watanabe, Former Assistant Conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Gloria dePasquale of The Philadelphia Orchestra directs the College Audition Preparation program. The festival has been operating for 25 years, and students attend from throughout the U.S. and many countries around the world. Concerto Competition winners perform as soloists with the New York Sessions Symphony, the United States Army Field Band, or another professional or community orchestra, and PIMF - Italy includes a week-ending Grand Finale in one of Cremona's performance halls. Family members are invited to participate in a “Family and Friends Tour” in Italy that includes eight tours in Northern Italy, and Onward Management, Inc. is the Exclusive Partner of the Philadelphia International Music Festival for China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
