About
Glade Run Adventures includes interactive experiences with plants, animals, and the natural environment, along with activities such as environmental education, horticultural activities, stargazing, art, and yoga. The program offers riding lessons, therapeutic horseback riding, equine assisted learning, trail rides, obstacle courses, cart driving, in-hand challenges, ground work with horses, and horsemanship skills. Participants may also learn about horse conformation and parts, horse nutrition, horse lameness and first aid, competitive disciplines, and caring for their horse, and can attend Specialized Adventures, which is a social skills development camp for individuals ages 8–18 that is specially designed for children with moderate to high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as Independent Rider Camps for riders who can independently steer and control their horses at the walk and trot in a group setting.

• Schedule: Specialized Adventures summer camp runs in two-week sessions, Monday–Friday from 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; Independent Rider Camps run in weekly sessions from 12:30–4:30 p.m.; Equine Assisted Learning and Nature Based Learning are offered in 8- or 12-week sessions during fall, winter, and spring, with one lesson per week; individual and group therapeutic lessons are offered through the school year in eight- or 12-week sessions from late August through late May
• Price: Specialized Adventures summer camp costs $1,600 per two-week session; Independent Rider Camps cost $460 per week or $1,155 for all three weeks; Equine Assisted Learning 12-week sessions cost $600 for 30-minute private lessons and $825 per participant for 60-minute group lessons; Nature Based Learning 8- or 12-week sessions range from $280–$420 for private lessons and $200–$300 per participant for group lessons
Glade Run Adventures states that it empowers individuals through experiences in nature and notes that its services are tailored to individual goals, with participants of all ages able to take part in interactive experiences with plants, animals, and the natural environment. Nature based learning uses the garden, greenhouse, forest, fields, and creek of Glade Run, and workshops may include partnering with therapy horses. Equine Assisted Off-Site Retreats focus on strengthening team interactions, improving communication, problem solving, strengthening individual relationships, and experiencing renewed energy. There is a 180 lb. weight limit for all mounted activities, and unmounted activities are also available. Financial assistance may be available to qualified families.
The Adventures director is Kaitlin Simonette. Instructor Holly Schubert has a master’s degree in Environmental Education and decades of outdoor and teaching experience in a variety of settings. Lunch & Learn is free and open to leadership staff of organizations interested in partnering with Adventures for regularly scheduled group experiences.
