About
Newport County YMCA Summer Camp includes fun activities such as games, sports, arts & crafts, archery, adventure courses, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, beach sports, nature walks, beach trips, hikes, gymnastics, water games, and gaga pit games. Campers take part in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Crafts and Math) activities with hands-on experiments, collaborative projects, interactive lessons, a reading component, creative storytelling, and comprehension skill-building. The program also offers rock climbing on a 40-foot four-sided climbing tower, high and low ropes adventure courses, a vertical playpen, a catwalk, a peanut butter pit, team building activities and games, a bouldering wall, NinjaZone (which combines gymnastics, martial arts, obstacle training, and freestyle movement), drills for skills, obstacle courses, strength challenges, a pool, trips to the Newport County YMCA, and a waterslide, including a NEW waterslide at Camp CFP, along with social & emotional learning and character development.

• Schedule: Swim tests for Summer Camp are held every Saturday from 11:30am until 12pm starting in February.
• Price: Traditional Camp weekly cost: Member: $240, Non-member: $290. Aquatics Camp weekly cost: Member: $265, Non-member: $315. Gymnastics Camp weekly cost: Member: $265, Non-member: $315. Ninja Camp weekly cost: Member: $280, Non-member: $330. Outdoor Adventure weekly cost: Member: $265, Non-member: $315. Counselor in Training weekly cost: Member: $125, Non-member: $150. Camp CFP weekly cost ages 5-12 (8:30am-4:30pm): Member: $240, Non-member: $290.
Aquatics Camp staff are all lifeguard certified and trained in the skills they are instructing, and all Aquatics campers must be strong swimmers who are able to complete specific swimming requirements, including a required swim test before registering. Junior Aquatics campers ages 6–8 years old must complete a 25-yard swim test, and Water Sports Camp campers ages 9–13 years old must complete a 50-yard swim test and a 2-minute tread. Aquatics Camp includes aquatic experiences at local beaches and visits to Fort Adams. The Gymnastics Center used by the program includes competition-ready equipment for all 4 women’s events and all 6 men’s events, a foam pit, a Tumbl Trak, and a bouldering wall. Camp CFP traditional camps at Common Fence Point include a NEW waterslide and gaga pit games.

The leadership team includes Katie Bresko, Camp & Recreation Director; Emily Cush, Aquatics Director; and Shannon Farrell, Gymnastics Director. Camp Curious Minds is a brand new camp for 2025 at the Newport County YMCA and focuses on STEAM and reading, Traditional Camps are described as for youth seeking a diverse daily experience of variety and enrichment, Aquatics Camp includes aquatic experiences at local beaches and visits to Fort Adams, Outdoor Adventure includes a 40-foot four-sided climbing tower and high and low ropes adventure courses, NinjaZone combines gymnastics, martial arts, obstacle training, and freestyle movement, Counselor in Training Camp is for teens entering 8th and 9th grade and focuses on leadership and career-building, and Camp CFP is located in Portsmouth RI at a secondary location. Camp Registration for 2026 begins on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday January 19, 2026.
