Special Olympics Tennessee Sports Programs offer sports training and athletic competition in 17 Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Activities include Athletics (Track & Field), Bocce, Powerlifting, Aquatics, Pickleball, and Volleyball. The program also includes Healthy Athletes screenings and health education as part of its sport, health, and education programming.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Special Olympics Tennessee offers year-round sports training, competition, as well as health and education opportunities for individuals aged 2 and above with intellectual disabilities. The Young Athletes program is available for children with and without intellectual disabilities, ages 2–7, and the Junior Athletes program is available for children with and without intellectual disabilities, ages 6–12. Individuals eight years old and up can compete in local and state competitions.

Special Olympics Tennessee is active across the state, reaching more than 21,000 athletes and volunteers. Sport, health, and education programming enriches the lives of more than 18,000 participating athletes. Tennessee offers 7 different and free Healthy Athletes screenings and health education throughout the year. Special Olympics Tennessee would not be able to reach more than 18,000 athletes across the state without the generous, ongoing support of its sponsors. Corporate partnerships with Special Olympics Tennessee strengthen partners' brand value, engage employees, build consumer loyalty and promote business objectives while helping deliver the mission, and Special Olympics Tennessee offers partnership packages at various levels and has opportunities to support in various ways to help raise awareness and fund the movement.

Special Olympics Tennessee (SOTN) offers an NFL-stage experience that empowers athletes to compete and belong. The Train 4 Life™ program is part of the offerings. The Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools program is aimed at promoting social inclusion through intentionally planned and implemented activities affecting systems-wide change. The Music City Corporate Challenge is an Olympic-style event that allows Greater Nashville Area corporations to interact with each other through a variety of competitions.
