Lone Star Ranch Pony Club Riding Center offers riding and mounted sports along with unmounted meetings that focus on care of horses and ponies. Lone Star Ranch Pony Club Riding Center is a certified local chapter of the United States Pony Club (USPC) and a member of the Rio Grande Region of The United States Pony Club. It has been serving youth from all around Austin for over 15 years and is the only Certified United States Pony Club Riding Center in Austin, Texas. The Rio Grande Region sponsors 5–7 annual events, including competitions called rallies, ratings, special clinics, and a week-long intensive summer camp each June, and riders from this program may participate in regional rallies such as D-Level Rally, Quiz, and One Horse Rallies, as well as the National Pony Club Championships and USPC Festival at the Kentucky Horse Park. The USPC curriculum used by the program is internationally recognized, with safety listed as the number one priority, and USPC Festival includes a trade fair, mock foxhunt, and both championships and education components. All Pony Clubs, including this one, are volunteer-based organizations that depend on members, parents, grandparents, and local horsemen to donate their time and skills. The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. states that it is an educational organization that builds the foundations of teamwork and sportsmanship through riding, mounted sports, and the care of horses and ponies, while developing and enhancing leadership, confidence, responsibility, and a sense of community in its youth and adult members.
