Steve & Kate’s traditions at this camp include Find Chuckie (a rubber chicken) and Friday Pie-Day. Weekly specials may include giant inflatables, a musical performance, a movement workshop, or a popup petting zoo. Low ropes at camp are used for campers to navigate obstacles together, and campers race and slide down a giant, inflatable slip ’n slide, weather permitting, and cruise around in kid-friendly electric or pedal go-karts with helmets provided.

Steve & Kate’s Camp states that when kids are empowered to make their own choices and be their own bosses, they discover new reserves of confidence, resiliency, and creativity. Steve & Kate’s Camp has been operating in this way since 1980, and the Director at this camp is Abbey.

Testimonials about Steve & Kate’s Camp include comments from Andrew Stanton, Director of WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory, who says that children at the camp “blossom and discover a freedom of identity” and that “kids find their thumbprint at Steve & Kate’s.” Apple’s Hot News states, “If kids ruled the world, it might look something like Steve and Kate’s Camp.” Variety magazine notes that Steve & Kate’s Camp did not specifically set out to cater to children of people at Pixar and Industrial Light & Magic, but that “given their philosophy, it’s no surprise so many attend.” The Washington Post describes Steve & Kate’s Camp as “a blend of that traditional camp experience combined with a modern, tech-savvy touch” with “innovative approaches to everything from programming to payment,” and the Chicago Tribune states that “working parents’ worries dissipate as they contemplate Steve & Kate’s model.”
