About
Scouting America Capitol Area Council Youth Programs include Cub Scout activities, camping, camporees, short-term camp, and both summer and winter camp. The program also offers aquatics, climbing and C.O.P.E., a geocache course, shooting sports, STEM activities, district events, and high adventure opportunities. Additional activities include conservation awards, Eagle Reception, National Jamboree, Order of the Arrow, international experiences, a Cardboard Regatta at Lost Pines, and a day at camp at Lost Pines.

• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
The council’s mission is to prepare boys and girls from all social, economic, and religious backgrounds to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The council began in 1912. The council supports Scouting programs in 15 Central Texas counties: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, DeWitt, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Hays, Lavaca, Lee, Llano, Mason, Travis, and Williamson. The program also features special events such as the “Adventure is waiting” kite and rocket fest on September 26 at Smilin V and Speedfest on November 14 at COTA. From kindergarten to age 20, boys and girls have program options to have fun, be adventurous, and practice the values of leadership and service, and Scouting needs many kinds of volunteer help, including roles that do not involve actively leading a group of Scouts.
