• Ages: 0–18 years old

Camp For All is a special needs camp in Texas that has provided a welcoming, all-inclusive atmosphere since 1998. Camp For All is open all year around, only closing briefly from the end of November to the first week of January during the holiday season. Camp For All transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs and works in partnership with other not-for-profit organizations to enrich the lives of children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs and their families throughout the year. The goal at Camp For All is that every single activity offered is available to every single individual who comes to Camp. Camp For All is described as the national leader in creating and providing proven life-changing experiences through passionate and professional staff, cutting edge facilities and innovative programming. Camp For All provides the barrier-free camp, professional staff, universal programming, and appropriate foods, and provides professional staff and special needs camping professionals with oversight of programming.

Camp For All opened in 1998 on 206 acres in Washington County, and since 1998 more than 190,000 campers have been served. In 1993, Paul Gerson, Robert Zeller and Larry Neuhaus, two Houston physicians who care for children with special needs and a parent who lost a child to cancer, respectively, teamed up with a dream to build Camp For All. Each building is designed for ease of use by all, longevity, low maintenance and flexibility, and the camp follows a pro-active maintenance plan with dedicated staff so the camp looks even more beautiful than the day it first opened. Camp For All is a nationally recognized, truly barrier-free facility with cutting edge programming that adapts universally to the needs of each group, and is uniquely designed to serve children and adults with multiple challenges.

Camp For All works in collaboration with more than 65 different nonprofit organizations, which bring the campers, the medical staff, and the in-cabin counselors and provide the other half of the cost. Camp For All raises more than $3.1 million annually to provide half of the cost for each camper to come to Camp For All. Camp For All 2U is an outreach program where Camp activities are taken into hospitals. In 2017, Camp For All earned the Eleanor P. Eells Award for program excellence as well as excellence in research in practice at camps from the American Camp Association, recognizing the Camp For All 2U program.

Parents, campers, and staff have shared feedback about their experiences at Camp For All. One staff member said, “I had a seizure at Camp. When I got through it, I said, ‘I guess I have to go home, now. And they said, No….Let’s go to archery!’ It made me realize that I wasn’t defined by having epilepsy.” Another staff member said, “If I’ve done anything right in my life, it’s Camp. Everything else can be crazy, but Camp makes you feel like you’ve done something right.” A Camp PHEver camper said, “I have never known anyone before who had PKU and am grateful to have made friends that do and go through the same things as me.” A camper parent described Camp For All as “such a spectacular facility with such a great mission. It means the world to my boys.”
