Child Care & After-School Programs – Armed Services YMCA Killeen offers low-cost, high-quality, licensed childcare for school-aged kids in Central Texas. The program includes after-school and resiliency programs for school-age children, as well as access to food security, affordable child care, and parent-child early education opportunities. Additional offerings include Emergency Food Relief for Military Families, Holiday Travel Assistance for Military Families, Drop-in Child Care at the Military Hospital, and Resiliency Programs for Military Children.
• Schedule: Wellness Center hours of operation are Monday–Friday 5:00am–9:00pm and Saturday–Sunday 7:00am–4:00pm; Child Care Center office hours are Monday–Friday 9:00am–5:00pm; Program Center is open as programming occurs; Downtown hours of operation are 8:00am–12:00pm.
The Armed Services YMCA has been “Strengthening Our Military Family®” since 1861. Its stated mission is to enhance the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind, and body through programs relevant to the challenges of military life. Programs and services are offered at no or low cost and require no dues or membership fees, and are exclusively tailored to meet the needs of military members and their families serving in the Killeen and Fort Hood communities. The organization reports that its sponsors and partners enable it to provide more programs and services to more junior enlisted military families across the country, including partners such as American Legion Auxiliary, Dept. of Texas; Association of the United States Army; Central Texas Food Bank; Lockheed Martin; USAA Bank; and others. The Armed Services YMCA holds a Charity Navigator 4-Star rating, a Charity Watch A Grade, and a Candid Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency.
