Highland Park Presbyterian Church Youth & Children’s Programs are part of a church that states its mission as “Helping You Find & Follow Jesus” and “Leading all generations to find and follow Jesus for the flourishing of our city and beyond.” The church also states that its mission is to be “a Jesus church, where people of every generation are finding the joy, hope, and transformation of life in Christ.” The programs exist within a larger church community that includes a family of churches such as All Nations, Good Shepherd Oak Cliff, Grace Church Lake Highlands, Mandarin Chinese Church, and Peak Street Church, and the church is affiliated with ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. Vision 100 milestones are connected to the church’s 100th anniversary in 2026 and include goals such as 10 new church plants, 100 leaders raised from the next generation for Christ-centered ministry, 10,000 new followers of Jesus, 100% of covenant partners growing as followers of Jesus, and 1,000,000 hours of prayer.
Parents and students describe several of these activities in their own words, including VBS as “an incredible week of sharing God’s love, making new friends, and playing tons of fun games,” and Confirmation as a time when “kids are kind of looking at who they are going to be” and are presented with “faith-basics.” A student described the Ignite Weekend Retreat as “all about teaching students about the passion God has for them with the hope that it ignites a fire in their hearts that makes them want change in their lives,” and another student said about the Student Mission Trip, “Serving this week makes me feel more thankful for the things I have even when I may not have realized how amazing and good they are.” One participant in Anchor and Ascent said, “Hearing how people in different life stages have overcome common problems has made a huge impact in my life.” Another person described Baptism Sunday by saying, “My life transformed in all ways and it's because of God. I want to show people that this is a life-long commitment I'm willing to make.” A couple described the re|engage marriage enrichment program by saying, “Re | Engage is the best thing we’ve found at HP Pres for our marriage and for our faith.”
The broader church community that surrounds these youth and children’s programs participates in Transform Dallas in partnership with Dallas Leadership Foundation (DLF), described as a city-wide workday and “a tangible way for us to share God’s love with our neighbors.” The church also describes City Engagement efforts that focus on acts of mercy and justice, feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, and supporting and mentoring the marginalized, as well as Global Engagement that involves partnering with missionaries, churches, and agencies across the globe. The leadership team connected to these programs includes Beth Daniel, who is identified as the Senior Pastor’s wife, and she is honored in events such as the Women’s Brunch Honoring Beth Daniel.
