Down Home Ranch Camp offers time in the pool to swim, chances to play basketball, and hikes on trails. Campers also care for animals and fish in the pond as part of their camp experience.

• Schedule: Trips run Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Since 1989, Down Home Ranch has operated as a ranch, residential community, and camp, including 30 years of ranch camp. At camp, the program welcomes those 13 and older with cognitive disabilities. The mission of Down Home Ranch is “Empowering the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through social, educational, residential, and vocational opportunities.” The leadership team includes Barry Hamilton, LCSW, Executive Director; Cortney Dozier, MBA, Chief Operating Officer; Diana Daw, Director of Development; and Casey Dickerson, M.Ed, Director of Client Services. The staff credentials listed for the program include Barry Hamilton, LCSW; Cortney Dozier, MBA; and Casey Dickerson, M.Ed. The organization is involved in integrating with local and Austin communities while growing its national presence. One parent shared that her son begins looking forward to returning as they are leaving and that he becomes more confident every camp visit, and another parent described a rancher’s social interactions and intellectual abilities as having grown since being at Down Home Ranch.
