Started in 1975 by parents at Lily B. Clayton Elementary as a nonprofit called Clayton Child Care, Clayton Youth Enrichment has provided safe, engaging programs for over 50 years. Its mission states that it provides childcare that parents can feel good about and is committed to providing safe, enriching programs that help children to live great lives. The program partners with school districts and communities to offer several options for working families needing care for their children and notes that there is no waitlist and that financial assistance is available. Camp Clayton Adventure Camp is officially ACA accredited. Staff are described as compassionate professionals who receive comprehensive training, and the organization offers competitive salaries, paid training, holidays, vacation, sick leave, and a 401 K plan with employment match for staff. Clayton Youth Enrichment is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and intends to apply for the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Cycle 13 grant.

The leadership team includes Jason Ray (Chief Executive Officer), Dr. Kevin Hood (Director of Programs), Brittany Lee (Director of Finance), Drew Brock (Director of Human Resources), and Meryl Gunter (Director of Advancement). The program also offers a Refer-A-Friend Reward Program and emphasizes convenient on-site locations that are on site at the school facility where the child attends.

Parents report that Clayton staff enrich their children and help them grow as people, provide great learning activities, and that their children are actively learning while having fun. Multiple parents describe Clayton teachers and staff as caring, loving, kind, respectful, and supportive, and several note that their children do not want to leave at pickup time. Parents also mention that the program is affordable, convenient for working parents, and that they feel their children are safe and happy in the after-school program. Testimonials highlight homework help, engaging learning opportunities, work with students on understanding emotions and expressing them appropriately, and recognition for positive behavior. Several parents say their children have made many friends, love the teachers, and enjoy the activities every day.
