About

STEM Squad is a program where class topics vary each session, always keeping an engineering focus with a creative slant. Activities are structured so that students construct their own knowledge of the world through hands-on experiences, and specimens and artifacts from the Museum’s teaching collection are featured in the classroom. The engaging classroom environments and activities are facilitated by enthusiastic educators who support the joy of learning through discovery.

• Ages: 5–10 years old
• Schedule: STEM Squad classes are held on Mondays for Kindergarten – 4th Grade students.

For over 75 years, Museum School has been a leader in informal science education, with its origins in a 1939 study of children’s museums by the local council of Administrative Women in Education and a formal charter for the Fort Worth Children’s Museum filed on April 21, 1941. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is part of the Smithsonian Affiliate program, the Association of Science and Technology Centers, the Association of Children’s Museums, and Museums for All. The museum’s mission states that it is dedicated to lifelong learning and engages a diverse community through programs and exhibits interpreting science and the stories of Texas and the Southwest. The facility includes 166,000 square feet of gallery space, and attendance has grown to over 500,000 guests annually since construction, with features such as the Jane & John Justin Foundation Omni Theater, DinoLabs and DinoDig, Innovation Studios, the Children’s Museum, Energy Blast, the Cattle Raiser’s Museum, Museum School, and The Havener Gallery; the Omni was the first IMAX dome theater in the Southwest and became one of the most successful in the world.
