Butterfield Stage Players was formed in 1979 when Cooke County residents Rodger Boyce, Tom Carson and Monica Hess created a community theater. Butterfield Stage Players has been entertaining audiences for 40+ years and was formed in 1979. The organization states that it strives to culturally enrich, educate and entertain through theater and performing arts. Butterfield Stage adopts ratings for shows, including G, PG, PG13+, and R. As part of its community involvement, Butterfield Stage has a Find the Light Scholarship program, established in the 2022–2023 season, which awards two $1000 scholarships to current graduating seniors from a high school or home school who have participated in theater during high school and intend to pursue theater-based courses at the college level, with scholarships awarded at Butterfield’s annual Fish Fry in May.
