Lee County Youth Center, 451 N Dallas St, Giddings, TX 78942
About
The Lee County Youth Center After-School Program includes homework assistance, mentoring, tutoring, and fun activities such as the Mustard seed club, cooking school, mummies, castles, survival, bingo, darts, and the lollipop library. Optional homework assistance is provided inside The Learning Center Monday through Thursday, and enrolled participants come after school Monday through Friday.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Enrolled participants attend after school Monday–Friday, with optional homework assistance offered Monday–Thursday; the 2025–2026 After-School Program starts on Tuesday, August 12th.
• Price: We do charge minimal tuition for children enrolled in our program.
The program offers a daily free nutritious snack for all children and includes an afternoon snack, homework help, and fun activities. Programs are curated for children who have completed Kindergarten through 12th grade in Lee County, and students are admitted on a first come, first served basis until full. Optional homework assistance is provided by a staff of adult and high school volunteers, and the organization operates with volunteers and a small number of part-time paid staff, including high school and college-age students. Limited scholarships are available to students who attend the Lee County Youth Center to support families facing hardships, and the scholarship fund runs on donations from the community as the center is a non-profit organization. The organization exists mainly on donations, grants, and gifts from community supporters, and several fundraisers are held each year to help support the center activities and staff. The Lee County Youth Center is under the direction of a volunteer board of directors that meets monthly, with board members including Jo Ann Dibble (Vice President), Meredith Franks (Board Member), Charles Francis (Board Member), and Debbi Vance (Board Member). The Lee County Youth Center opened for its initial program in 2012, and its stated mission is: “We strive to provide quality, engaging activities in a safe and nurturing environment for the youth of Lee County.” The LCYC is not a licensed daycare, so the program is not licensed or regulated by the state.
Board member Meredith Franks describes the program as including “Mustard seed club, cooking school, mummies, castles, survival, bingo, darts, lollipop library and so many more fun things with adorable kids. Namaste, Meredith.” Board member Charles Francis states that “The Word of God instructs us to ‘train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it’ (Prov 22:6 KJV)” and that he believes his mission is to share what God has imparted to him with those within his sphere of influence. Board member Debbi Vance states, “I wish to use my gifts and talents to improve the lives of others.”
