Texas Elks Camp offers activities such as nature walks, arts and crafts, cookouts, outdoor activities, weekly dances, a petting zoo, tie-dye, fishing, archery, volleyball, basketball, and swimming. Campers take part in these activities during scheduled summer sessions at the camp.

According to the mission statement, Texas Elks Camp serves children with special needs and children in foster care, and states that having a difference does not make a difference at camp. Any child with special needs or in foster care age 7 to 21 who is a resident of the state of Texas is eligible for admission, and campers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. No child is denied acceptance on the basis of income level, ethnic origin, race, creed, color, or religion, and online camper registration opens January 1.
Counselors at Texas Elks Camp have a stated commitment to special needs children and experience working with intellectual and developmental disabilities. All counselors, nurses, and counselors in training attend a week of intense training. Most counselors are majoring in therapeutic recreation, special education, elementary education, social work, nursing, or pre-med.
