The Club operates in dedicated, neighborhood-based buildings designed solely for youth programs and activities. Staff members are trained youth development professionals, and volunteers provide key supplementary support. The organization serves youth across Rusk County at three locations: Robertson, Wylie Elementary, and the Kilgore Unit.

For more than twenty years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rusk County have operated as part of a broader movement that has been described as a proven delinquency prevention program and one of the best bargains in America. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rusk County is to offer a safe, supportive environment, ensure that no child feels alone, and provide programs that foster academic success, healthy lifestyles, and strong character while building a sense of belonging, competence, and purpose. Peggy S. McAlister serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rusk County.

With the support of donors and community partners, the organization offers its after-school, teen, sports, and summer programs. Hormel Foods Corporation made a $5,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Rusk County. Henderson’s Chick-fil-A and Cotton Patch provided lunch and desserts for players at the Boys & Girls Club of Rusk County’s 7th Annual Mike Wilhite Golf Classic, which was hosted at Henderson Country Club.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the national organization with which this Club is affiliated, has been ranked by WORTH magazine as one of the “100 Best Charities in America” based on financial efficiency, strength of reputation, and program effectiveness. The Chronicle of Philanthropy ranked Boys & Girls Clubs of America No. 1 among youth organizations for the eighth consecutive year, and No. 11 among all non-profit organizations in its “Philanthropy 400” report.
