YMCA Summer Day Camps are part of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas programs, which has 135+ years serving the community and serves almost 200,000 people annually through programs, outreach, and events throughout Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Palo Pinto, and Rockwall counties. The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas states that promoting a healthy lifestyle is at the heart of its mission, with fitness programs, nutrition education, and wellness initiatives for individuals of all ages, and an emphasis on active living and supporting physical and mental well-being. The organization states that it focuses on nurturing the potential of every child through sports, education, and leadership activities, and that it is committed to giving back through volunteerism, outreach programs, and partnerships to create a welcoming environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the greater good. Elise Back serves as Chief Growth Officer.

The program notes that bathroom independence is a prerequisite for all childcare programs, including Pre-K and School Age Day Camps, and that all preschool campers ages 4–5 who have not completed kindergarten must be fully potty trained with no pull-ups. YMCA Summer Day Camps state that they provide uninterrupted enrichment-based care for families who need full-day support and that day camps are available for Pre-K and school-aged children. The program also notes that member vs. non-member pricing requires the children to be YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas members with a membership that includes dependents, that two weeks’ written notice is required for cancellation using the Summer Camp Cancellation Link, and that a cancellation fee will be assessed without proper notice according to policies reviewed at enrollment. Summer 2026 registration is open, and families can also choose to experience adventure and fun at YMCA Camp Grady Spruce or one of more than 20 day camps.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas reports partnerships with Childcare Group or Texas Workforce at select camps each season and a partnership with the City of Waxahachie and Ellis County, Texas, to break ground on the Cindy Hess Memorial Park next to the Waxahachie Family YMCA. Shared testimonials from families describe the camps as very helpful for working mothers, note children coming home tired but happy, and mention kids enjoying camp, liking the counselors, and having stories to tell. Other testimonials describe a scholarship that supported a child playing baseball during a family’s transition to one income and a health screening experience at the Y that led to a change in blood pressure medication.
