TUTS Musical Theatre Academy offers Music, Dance, and Acting classes, along with Musical Theatre Classes & Camps for students of all experience levels. It also includes Music Foundations for the Stage, Music Theory Essentials I and II, Building Vocal Technique, Acting Foundations for the Stage, Character & Scene Study, Vocal Repertoire & Coaching, and Acting Methods. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday and on Saturdays, and Fall classes take place September 14 to December 12.
Programs
- Core Classes — 4-18 · Saturdays; some classes also on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or other Saturdays · Open to students regardless of experience level. Offered in Music, Dance and Acting through the Humphreys School. Fall classes take place September 14 - December 12.
- Advanced Studio Classes — 6th-12th grade · Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Mondays depending on class · For students ready for the next level of training. Requires placement evaluation prior to enrollment.
- Inclusive Classes — 4 through young adulthood · Designed for students with disabilities. Provides adaptive support while building confidence, creativity, and performance skills.
- Musical Theatre Classes & Camps — 4-18 · Offers opportunities for students of all experience levels to sharpen skills in music, dance and acting.
- Music Foundations for the Stage — 3rd-5th grade; 6th-8th grade; 9th-12th grade · Saturdays · Core class offered in different grade bands.
- Music Theory Essentials I — 6th-12th grade · Thursdays 6:30-7:45 PM
- Music Theory Essentials II — 6th-12th grade · Thursdays 5:00-6:15 PM
- Building Vocal Technique — 6th-8th grade; 9th-12th grade · Tuesdays 6:30-7:45 PM; Tuesdays 8:00-9:15 PM

About the provider
The Humphreys School began in 1972. The River began in 1996 and merged with TUTS in 2010. The Academy’s mission is Inspiring the Next Generation of Musical Theatre Artists. All classes are taught by industry professionals, and the Academy offers 23 semester-based classes and four year-long classes. Students at the Humphreys School have had the opportunity to audition for TUTS Mainstage productions, and students who trained with The River have had the opportunity to perform in TUTS Mainstage productions alongside students from The Humphreys School.
Core Classes are open to all levels of experience. Advanced Studio Classes require submitting specific materials for a placement evaluation prior to registration. Inclusive Classes are designed for students with disabilities. Placement evaluations are reviewed on a rolling basis until the posted deadline. Fall placement evaluation deadline is Monday, August 31. Registration for Fall is due by Monday, September 7. The Academy Company year-long class requires an in-person audition.
