Hutto Parks and Recreation Programs include camps, athletic leagues, special gatherings, and classes. The department maintains 165 acres of parkland that support these activities, including four playgrounds, two athletic complexes, a splash pad, and eight miles of scenic trails. Dogs must be leashed in all parks and open space in accordance with City Ordinance 4.09, except at Brushy Creek Dog Park at 200 CR 197, which is designated for off-leash activity.
The mission of the Parks and Recreation Department is to increase the quality of life and well-being of residents through beautiful parks, trails, events, athletic leagues, and programs. The department’s leadership team includes Anna Rodriguez, Executive Management Assistant, and Jeffrey White, Director of Parks and Recreation. The City of Hutto has a partnership with the Texas Veterans Commission, bringing services to local veterans. During the renovation of Fritz Park starting December 12, 2024, the Cottonwood Trail, Athletic Fields, and Tennis Courts will remain open, and the renovated park will include new playground equipment, a splash pad, walking trails, a bicycle pump track, and more.
