About
Lone Star Leadership Academy brings outstanding students together for overnight academic leadership summer camps that include leadership development, enrichment classes, tutoring, and day camps. Participants travel to Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to unique and historically significant Texas destinations. The program also offers One-Day TEKS-based field trips and monthly, live, online leadership and character-building lessons.

• Schedule: Sunday–Friday overnight camps with weeklong sessions
Education in Action, the nonprofit organization behind Lone Star Leadership Academy, is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to empowering young people to be informed and active leaders in their communities. Camps are offered throughout the summer for outstanding 3rd–8th graders, with Dallas/Fort Worth camp for 3rd–6th graders (including a day option), Austin/San Antonio camp for 4th–7th graders, and Houston/Galveston camp for 5th–8th graders. Overnight academic leadership summer camps for outstanding 3rd–8th graders are teacher-led, student-centered, and parent-approved, and campers explore significant sites in Texas’ three largest metropolitan areas with other outstanding students before 9th grade. Optional round-trip charter bus transportation from Dallas/Fort Worth to the Austin/San Antonio and Houston/Galveston camps is available, and Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council members launch service projects and grow their leadership skills.
A parent from Keller, Texas, shared that after each camp they saw great improvement in their children’s ability to interact with peers and in their confidence, and that their children were excited about what they learned. Another parent from San Antonio, Texas, stated that the experience changed the trajectory of their child’s childhood, especially when the child was struggling with feeling different from classmates. The Honorable Jane Nelson, Texas Secretary of State, commended Education in Action for the opportunity it is providing young people to experience their state government and learn the importance of being involved in their communities.
