Children’s Learning Station describes its mission as fostering a nurturing, Christian environment and creating a hometown early learning atmosphere where real connections and relationships are built. The center is family-owned and operated by Don and Suzanne Manning, who were born and raised in the Denton area and have over 50 years of family experience in Denton County. Don serves as CFO of a real estate company and on the elder board of Valley Creek Church, which he and Suzanne helped start over 25 years ago, and together they run a parenting ministry called Crazy Cool Family. The director, Mrs. Kristine Burgan (also referred to as Ms. Kristine), is a former Children’s Learning Station student.
Children’s Learning Station has been in the Lake Cities community since it opened in 1985 and is described as trusted childcare serving the Lake Cities for over 30 years and by families for over 40 years. It is identified as Lake Cities’ only 4-Star Texas Rising Star center and as Lake Cities’ trusted family childcare. The facility is described as an intimate center with small, low-ratio classrooms and low child-to-teacher ratios, and it underwent extensive renovations in 2019 as part of becoming a completely renovated 21st century childcare center with modernized facilities and over 5,000 square feet. The program notes long-term teachers, a home atmosphere where everyone knows each child and family, and a FlexCare discounted customized schedule option to fit unique work needs.
One parent testimonial describes Children’s Learning Station as the best place they have kept their kids while working, notes that all of their children have attended, and shares that their youngest asks to visit friends there even on weekends. The same parent states that their older daughters have great memories of the program and that they feel lucky to have such a place to care for their children in Lake Dallas.
